Quiz on the TV

Put your quiz on the TV

A big screen makes a living room or a function room feel like a proper quiz night. There’s nothing to install: the TV just needs a web browser.
Updated 6 November 2026

Three steps, about 30 seconds

1
On the TV, open the web browser and go to instaquiz.app/tv. It shows a 6-character code that changes every minute.
2
On your phone, open your quiz lobby, tap Show on TV and type the code.
3
Press OK on the TV remote to accept. That’s it: the TV shows the join code and QR, and follows the game from then on.
Open the TV screen
Open that link on the TV or laptop, not your phone. Then set up your quiz on your phone.

What the TV shows

In the lobby

The join code, a QR code to scan and everyone who has joined.

Each question

The question, the timer and how many have answered. Add the A to D choices with “Show answer choices on the TV”.

The reveal

The right answer, how many picked each choice and who was fastest.

The finish

Round breaks, the wager finale, then the podium and the winner.
What it never shows: the running scores, or the answer before you reveal it.

Which TVs work

Smart TVs

Most Samsung and LG smart TVs have a web browser built in. Open it and type instaquiz.app/tv with the remote. On Google TV or Android TV you may need to install a browser first.

A laptop and an HDMI cable

The most reliable option. Open instaquiz.app/tv on the laptop, plug it into the TV and go full screen.

AirPlay or Chromecast

Cast or mirror a laptop or tablet that has instaquiz.app/tv open. Never mirror the quiz master’s phone: it shows who has answered and, at the reveal, the answer.

Fire TV and games consoles

Their browsers usually work. If yours struggles, use a laptop instead.

Questions people ask

Do I need a TV to play?

No. Without one, you read the questions out and everyone plays on their phones. The TV just makes it bigger.

Does the TV show the scores?

Never during the game. That’s the point: nobody knows who’s winning until the podium.

Can someone else grab my TV with the code?

No. Nothing appears on the TV until someone presses OK on it, and the code changes every minute.

The TV lost connection. What now?

Leave it: it reconnects by itself and picks up where the game is. If it doesn’t, refresh the page.

Can I connect two TVs?

One TV per game for now. Several screens for bigger rooms are planned.
