Office Christmas party

An office Christmas party quiz that runs itself

You host from your phone, everyone joins in their own browser with a 5-letter code, the questions go up on the meeting room TV and nobody sees the scores until the podium. No app for anyone to install, no spreadsheet and no marking sheets afterwards.

How the night runs

1
Before the party, open instaquiz.app on your phone and pick the free Office Christmas quiz (or the 100-question Christmas Cracker) and the rounds you want. You’ll get a 5-letter code.
2
Put instaquiz.app/tv up on the meeting room screen or a laptop and connect it from your phone. The TV shows the code and a QR code to join.
3
Colleagues join on their phones or laptops, in their browser. Sit in teams with one phone each, or play on your own. People working from home join with the same code and see each question on their own screen.
4
Read each question, open the answers and reveal. At the end, tap to reveal third, second and then the winner. Nobody knows who’s won until that moment.

Why it works for a work crowd

Nothing to install on work phones

Players join in the web browser. No app store, no IT ticket and no accounts or email addresses for players.

No awkward live leaderboard

Scores stay hidden until the podium, so nobody sits at the bottom of a scoreboard all night.

Works for hybrid teams

Colleagues at home join with the same code and get each question on their own screen.

Teams of any size

Free for up to 8 phones. Share one phone per table and 8 phones covers 40 people.

You can play along

Turn on “I’m playing too” and answer each question yourself, without seeing the answer first.

Ends early if you need it to

Food arrived? End the game with the results so far and go straight to the podium.

Rounds that go down well at work

Christmas number ones

Every office has someone who knows them all. Round 4 of the Christmas Cracker pack.

Christmas films and TV

From Home Alone to Gavin & Stacey. Good for mixed ages.

Christmas around the world

Yule Lads, Krampus and fried chicken in Japan. Great for international teams.

True or false

Quick to play and easy to join in with, even for people who say they’re rubbish at quizzes.

The wager finale

One last question where teams stake some of their points. It can turn the whole night around.

What InstaQuiz doesn’t do

It isn’t a hosted event: you, or a willing colleague, read the questions out. It doesn’t write questions about your office yet, and each player’s results are cleared when they leave the game. Players are never asked for an email address.

Questions people ask

How many people can play an office Christmas quiz on InstaQuiz?

Up to 8 phones for free. Most office quizzes play in teams with one phone per table, so 8 phones covers about 40 people. The £5 party pass raises it to 50 phones for 48 hours.

Do colleagues need to download an app or make an account?

No. They join in the web browser on their phone or laptop with a 5-letter code or by scanning a QR code. Players never make an account or give an email address.

Can people working from home join the office quiz?

Yes. Anyone with the code can join from anywhere, and the question shows on their own screen. Share your video call so they can hear you read the questions out.

How long does an office Christmas quiz take?

Plan on about a minute and a half a question, with reading, answering and the reveal. Three rounds of 10 takes about 45 minutes, which suits a party where people also want to eat and talk.

Can we put the quiz on the meeting room TV?

Yes. Open instaquiz.app/tv on the TV’s browser or a laptop plugged into it, then connect it from your phone. The TV shows the questions, the answers and the podium, and never the running scores.

Are the questions safe for work?

Yes. The Office Christmas quiz and Christmas Cracker packs are rated for everyone, with no swearing or innuendo, so they suit mixed teams and managers alike.

Can I write questions about our own office?

Not yet. “Your own quiz”, with your own questions and photos, is coming in early 2027. You can register your interest on the InstaQuiz homepage.

What if someone has to leave early?

They can tap Leave game, and you’ll see that they’ve gone. If the whole party needs to move on, end the game early and go straight to the podium with the scores so far.
